Front lamp mounts

Your lamp under the computer, the right way up

A round bar under your computer mount takes your lamp's own bracket. It carries up to 165 g with the bracket: a B+M Ixon Core 2 or a Sigma Aura 100 or 120. That rules out a 240 g Ixon Space or Aura 170: K-Edge rates everything under a Max XL at 242 g, and B+M's manual forbids hanging the Space upside down. Keep those two on top of the bar on their own brackets. If a front rack took the lamp's spot, the lamp bridge spans its rails.

Side-view drawing under a bar and computer mount. Left: a lamp hung from an O-ring under the mount, tipped back with its beam aimed up. Right: our J-arm screwed under the mount and a short round bar at its foot, with the lamp standing on its own bracket.

Why it fails

Why a lamp on an O-ring tips

One Ixon Space owner reports that the O-ring hanger slips on rough ground, and a lamp that tips points its beam up. Hanging an StVZO lamp upside down is out: the cut-off flips and blinds oncoming traffic, and B+M's manual forbids it for the Ixon Space. On a round bar under the computer, the lamp's own bracket clamps on and the lamp stands the way its maker specifies. Your out-front's rating sets the weight: under a K-Edge that leaves 165 g, so a 240 g Ixon Space stays on top of the bar.

What we'd draw for your bike

A round bar under the computer, for the lamp's own bracket

A 40 mm aluminium stub hangs from the holes under your out-front, and your lamp's own bar bracket clamps onto it, the right way up.

Render from front-left, just above: a black computer on a grey aluminium out-front, and under it the charcoal J-arm, MAX 165 g · 1.5 Nm on its side. The arm runs down beside a black lamp to a short silver aluminium stub under the lamp; the lamp's own dark bar band clamps round the stub and holds it upright, reflector forward. A grey cord runs from the bar to the lamp's rear.
Example design · render
Fits
Aluminium out-fronts with two holes underneath: K-Edge Max XL (2× M4 at 25.4 mm), Framesandgear and similar. Lamps whose bracket clamps a 22.2 mm bar, like B+M's 496HPB (21–32 mm). This example: an Edge 840 and a B+M Ixon Core 2 (117 × 37 × 44 mm, 125 g)
Bolts to
Two countersunk screws into the holes under your out-front, in place of its GoPro adapter
Mass
30 g printed; 77 g with the stub and bolts, CAD estimate
Material
PA-CF plate and J-arm (10 × 16 mm section), 1 mm TPU 95A liner in the cradle, bought 6061 aluminium stub; black ASA on request
Hardware
2× M4×12 ISO 10642 A2-70 countersunk with a nylon patch into the out-front; one M6×60 ISO 4762 10.9 bolt through the stub with two DIN 440 R washers, a Ø10/6.4 steel sleeve and an ISO 10511 nyloc nut; a Ø3 × 6 stainless pin pressed in at 45° under the cradle, so the stub can't turn
Torque
1.5 Nm on the M4 screws, on the label; the M6 comes set to 6 Nm; the lamp's bracket to its maker's torque
Max device
165 g, lamp and bracket together, under a K-Edge Max XL: K-Edge rates its underside at 242 g in total; our part with the stub and bolts takes 77 g, which leaves 165 g. Under another out-front, its maker's rating sets the number on the label
Tether
300 mm cord from the bar to the lamp, crimped, never to our part
Not for
Plastic out-fronts; lamps over the label, like the Ixon Space or the Aura 170 at 240 g; a clamp on the handlebar itself

Lamp bridge across two front-rack rails

Two stainless clamps on the rack rails carry a short beam, so the lamp sits ahead of the bag and the rack's own mounts stay untouched.

Render from front-left, just below the rails: a grey box bag on the platform and, under the two top rails, a charcoal beam, MAX 250 g · 2 Nm on its side, held by two rubber-lined stainless P-clamps. An aluminium GoPro 3-prong under the beam carries a black round lamp ahead of the bag, reflector forward, with a cord from the lamp to the left rail.

Riders' posts

What riders posted

From forums, not from customers

  • September 2026 A Magicshine lamp under a combo mount that came with it, Garmin on top. The mount snapped on a pothole in winter and the lamp was gone. The rider then paid over 250 zł for a sturdier one.
  • October 2026 B+M Ixon Space, about €200, on a gravel bike. B+M's hanger holds it on an O-ring, and on rough ground it slips and gets in the way of the brightness control. A Sigma bracket didn't fit. The rider would buy a screw-on mount for under the bar at once.
  • October 2026 A commuter with a front platform rack. No GoPro light mount the rider found was wide enough to span the two rails. No 3D printer at home, and a bolt-and-spacer fix didn't appeal.
  • October 2026 Kona Rove HD with an Arkel front rack. The rack took the light's spot, and the only place left is a threaded loop on the rack. In the same thread, an Olight twist-lock mount broke in icy rain.
  • October 2026 Cube Kathmandu Hybrid One11 e-bike with a CPS-A stem. Cube makes FPILink light faceplates for its Race, SLX, Stereo and CPS-E stems, and none for this one. Nobody in the thread knew the bolt spacing.

Limits

We don't make these: what to buy

We bolt to metal, to accessory threads, or where your radar's band sits today. We never make or modify brakes or steering parts, or anything that holds a rack or a child seat.

  • A printed clamp on a carbon or aero bar → K-Edge Max XL Combo, €67.99, Framesandgear, €85, or your bike maker's mount, then our stub or GoPro plate under itWe never print a clamp for a carbon bar.
  • A clamp on a 35 mm bar → K-Edge Max XL Combo 35 mm, €62.99, with our stub under it, or B+M 470LHA35PB, €17.99, for a lamp with a screw footEverything on the bar hangs from that clamp, so we leave it to metal ones.
  • A bracket on the fork crown → PDW's fork crown mount, $15, for PDW lampsA part that drops off the crown goes into the front wheel.
  • A new faceplate or stem with a light mount → Your stem maker's: Cube's FPILink faceplate with the ACID adapter, €6.95, on the stems Cube makes it forThe faceplate holds your bar, so we don't make one.
  • Rewiring an e-bike lamp → The Julet extension that matches your lamp's plug, or a bike shopWe don't touch the wiring.

FAQ

Questions before you order

Can you hang my lamp upside down under the bar?

We don't hang lamps with an StVZO cut-off upside down. Turned over, the bright part of the beam points up into oncoming drivers' eyes, and B+M's manual forbids it for the Ixon Space, adding that water can get in. The stub keeps the lamp in the position its maker specifies, standing on its own bracket, so the cut-off still points down. Lamps built to hang, with the beam set for it, can go on the GoPro mount of the lamp bridge.

How heavy can the lamp be?

We add up the lamp, its bracket and everything between it and the bike, and the lowest rating in that chain sets the limit. K-Edge rates everything under a Max XL at 242 g. Our arm, stub and bolts take 77 g of that, which leaves the 165 g on the label. B+M lists the Ixon Core 2 at 125 g and Sigma the Aura 120 at 148 g with its bracket, so both fit. A 240 g Ixon Space or Aura 170 is over it and rides on top of the bar. The lamp bridge takes 250 g and the faceplate tab 150 g. Before a design ships, its first print holds 50 N at the lamp for a minute and rides 30 km of cobbles, then we check every bolt is still at its torque. As of October 2026 these designs are drawn and rendered; photos of the first test prints will go on this page.

My out-front is Garmin's plastic one.

We bolt the stub only into aluminium out-fronts. Swap the plastic mount for one like the K-Edge Max XL Combo, €67.99, and the stub goes underneath. Our GoPro plate, for lamps on a GoPro mount, also goes under a metal mount. Send us the model you have, and the drawing shows which way works and what weight the label carries.

Does the lamp bridge touch the rack's mounts?

It clamps only the two top rails, with bought rubber-lined stainless P-clamps on M5 bolts, and stays off the struts, eyelets and the bolts that hold the rack to the bike. Metal racks only. A cord runs from the lamp to a rack tube, cut short so a loose lamp can't reach the spokes.

Will my e-bike lamp with a cable fit?

If it has an M6 foot, like Supernova's and Litemove's e-bike lamps, it bolts to the faceplate tab's brass M6 insert. From your photo of the cable's run, we draw a path so it reaches the lamp without a tight bend. We don't cut, extend or re-plug wiring; for that, get the Julet extension that matches your plug or ask a bike shop. The tab sits under two faceplate bolts on steel sleeves, with your stem maker's bolt grade, length, torque and tightening order.
