Ask your AI agent for the part.It can request the quote for you.
They Make Things designs custom-fit parts and 3D-prints them in Poland: adapters, enclosures, drawer inserts, brackets and replacement parts for things you already own. No CAD file needed; model names, a photo with a ruler and a few measurements are enough. The quote is free and non-binding, and we ship worldwide.

For people
How it works
If your assistant can browse the web, it can find us and prepare the request. You stay in charge: nothing is sent without your yes, and nothing is paid without your approval.
1
Tell your agent
What doesn't fit, the products involved, and photos if you have them. Mention theymakethings.com so it knows where to send.
2
Check and confirm
It shows you what it will send, including your email or phone. Say yes and it sends the request, or gives you a link to send it yourself.
3
We reply
We aim to reply within one working day, with questions or a first 3D concept on a private link.
4
Approve, then pay
You approve the design and a fixed price, then pay. We aim to ship within 10 working days of approval.
Prompts to give your agent
Adapter
My Festool ETS 125 sander's dust port doesn't fit the hose of my Bosch GAS 18V vacuum. Get me a quote for a custom adapter from They Make Things (theymakethings.com/agents/). Ask me what you need first and show me the request before you send it.
Electronics enclosure
I need an enclosure for an ESP32 DevKitC with a 0.96" OLED display, with a USB cutout and wall mounting. Request a quote from theymakethings.com and check the details with me before sending.
Toolbox insert
I want a drawer insert shaped to my tools instead of foam. I'll give you the drawer's inside size and a photo of the tools from above. Ask They Make Things for a quote.
Replacement part
The battery cover clip on my kitchen scale broke and the maker doesn't sell spares. Find out if theymakethings.com can make a replacement from photos and measurements, and send them a quote request once I've confirmed it.
What happens after
Your agent gets a request number. You get our reply within one working day (our aim), by email or phone.
We ask what's missing, or send a first 3D concept on a private link. Sometimes the answer is "this already exists, buy that".
Nothing is made or charged until you approve a design and a fixed price. If the part doesn't fit as promised, you choose: a 100% refund or an improved version.

What to collect
Field
Required
What to put in
need
yes
The problem and what the part should do, in the user's words. At least 10 characters.
contact
yes
The user's email or phone number, so we can reply.
models
no
Brands and models of everything the part fits.
dimensions
no
Key measurements in mm. Say which are measured and which are guesses; unknown is fine.
quantity
no
Whole number, 1–1000. Default 1.
material
no
Only if the user has a preference. Otherwise we choose.
deadline
no
When they need it, if it matters.
country

Reply language: en or pl. Write the request in any language.
photos
no
Up to 3 images, ideally with a ruler in frame. {url} (https) or {data: base64, type}, 1.9 MB each at most.
What to send, by kind of part
Adapter
Brands and models of both ends. If they can measure: outer and inner diameters of each end, how deep each goes in, and whether it's tapered.
Enclosure
Exact board and display variants, board size and mounting holes, which connectors and buttons need openings, how it's powered and where it will be mounted.
Drawer or case insert
Inside length, width and depth of the drawer or case, the room under the lid, and one photo of the tools laid out, taken from straight above with a ruler.
Replacement part
Photos of the broken part next to a ruler and of where it attaches, the product's make and model, the critical dimensions, and what load it carries.
Anything else
What it should do, what it fits or holds, rough size, where it will be used (indoors, outdoors, heat, load) and what has been tried.
Model names often let us find dimensions in spec sheets, so measuring is optional. Never guess a number: leave it out and we'll ask.
Rules
Confirm first. Show the user a summary of everything you'll send, including their contact details, and send only after they say yes.
It's a quote request, not an order. It's free and non-binding. Nothing is produced or paid for until the user approves a design and a fixed price with us. Don't tell them they've ordered a part.
Test without sending. Add "test": true to check the request; nothing is stored and nobody is contacted.
Send once. On retry, reuse the same Idempotency-Key. The same request again within 10 minutes returns the first receipt.
Hand over the receipt. Tell the user the request number and the next steps from the response.

1 MCP server
https://share.theymakethings.com/mcp, streamable HTTP, no sign-in. Tools: get_service_info (read-only facts, prices and what to send) and submit_quote_request (the fields above; photos as chat files; test flag). The user adds it as a custom connector in their assistant's settings. Server card: https://share.theymakethings.com/mcp/server-card.
claude mcp add --transport http they-make-things https://share.theymakethings.com/mcp
2 JSON API
GET https://share.theymakethings.com/api/service returns service facts and what to send per kind of part. POST https://share.theymakethings.com/api/quote-requests with a JSON body sends the request. No key; CORS open. Try it with "test": true:
curl -s https://share.theymakethings.com/api/quote-requests \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
-H 'Idempotency-Key: 7d1e4c2a-adapter' \
-d '{"need":"Adapter so my Festool ETS 125 sander fits my Bosch GAS 18V vacuum hose. Push fit that stays on.","models":"Festool ETS 125 REQ, Bosch GAS 18V-10 L","contact":"[email protected]","lang":"en","test":true}'
A full request body:
{
"need": "Drawer insert for my tools instead of foam: pliers, two screwdrivers, a tape measure and a utility knife, each in its own pocket with finger notches.",
"dimensions": "Drawer inside 520 x 300 mm, 45 mm deep (measured with a tape)",
"quantity": 1,
"country": "DE",
"contact": "[email protected]",
"lang": "en",
"photos": [
{
"url": "https://example.com/tools-from-above.jpg"
}
]
}
A new request returns 201. A test returns 200 with status test and id null; a repeat returns 200 with the first receipt and status duplicate.
{
"id": 1234,
"status": "received",
"summary": "Drawer insert for my tools instead of foam: … | Contact: [email protected]",
"photosStored": 1,
"photosSkipped": [],
"nextSteps": "This is a free, non-binding quote request. …",
"binding": false
}
Errors: 400 lists the missing fields; ask the user and retry. 429 means we're full for today; give the user the fallback link.
If you can only open URLs, or the user should send it themselves, build a link. It fills in the form on our page; the user checks it, adds photos and presses Send. Nothing is sent automatically. Parameters: need, models, contact, URL-encoded. Use /pl/ instead of / for the Polish page.
Browser agents can fill in the form at theymakethings.com/#start: what doesn't fit, products and models, up to 3 photos, email or phone. The form is also declared as the WebMCP tool submit_quote_request. Leave the hidden "Leave this empty" field empty, and press Send only after the user confirms.

FAQ
Questions
Does it cost anything to ask?
No. The quote and, for most small parts, the first concept are free. A request doesn't commit you to anything; you pay only after approving a design and a fixed price.
What do you do with my contact details and photos?
We use them only to reply, quote and, if you order, make and deliver your part. They're stored by Cloudflare in the EU and reach our mailbox; we delete them 12 months after our last contact, or sooner if you ask. AI design tools we use never get your contact details. What your own assistant keeps is up to its provider. Details in the privacy policy.
My agent can't send photos. Is that a problem?
No. Send the request without them and we'll ask in our reply. Or open the prefilled link your agent gives you and add up to 3 photos in the form.
Which languages can I use?
Any. We reply in Polish or English, or in your language if we can.
Which assistants does this work with?
Any that can browse the web. Those that can use MCP tools or call web APIs send the request directly; the others give you a prefilled link to check and send. You can always use the form yourself.
